Officially, you do need a degree to work at a government school. Although this has never really been enforced, you may have problems now with the requirement for a teaching license. You probably won't find a great job, but you'll probably find a job.

Full Time Native Speaking Primary School EFL Teachers
Assumption College Primary Section (ENS)

Looking for positive, motivated teachers who are passionate about teaching children and enjoy being creative in the classroom.

Assumption College Primary Section (ENS) is seeking several full-time native speaking EFL teachers for the 2008 academic year with a start date of March 21st, 2008. This position is within the English by Native Speakers Program (ENS).

THE SCHOOL
- Assumption College Bangkok is the first school of the St. Gabriel's Brothers Foundation in Thailand. The schools (Primary and Secondary) have an extremely good reputation for providing Thai boys with quality, well-rounded education. Perhaps Assumption College's greatest 'claim to fame' is the fact that four of Thailand's former Prime Ministers have graduated from the schools. The Primary and Secondary schools of Assumption College Bangkok are located on different campuses in the heart of Bangkok, each with an enrolment of approximately 3500 students.
- The schools are very well equipped with very modern facilities including computer laboratories, music laboratories, specialist arts and crafts rooms, libraries, tennis courts and swimming pools.
- The Director of Assumption College Bangkok is Rev. Bro. Anant Preechawut. Brother Anant began his tenure at the school in April 2004. The Principal of the Primary School is Bro. Arun Methaset. The brothers are supported by seven 'Assistant Principals' including Bro. Pisutr Vapiso.
- The Head of the English by Native Speakers Program (ENS) is Mr. Nick Tongen. He is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the English by Native Speakers Program in cooperation with ACP Staff.

TEACHING AND LEARNING
- ENS teachers are required to teach a maximum of 20 hours face to face per week. There are 22-25 students in each ENS class.
- During relief from teaching hours, ENS teachers are required to fulfill other duties such as lesson planning, lesson report completion, classroom decoration, worksheet marking and resource building.
- Each ENS teacher is provided a classroom with modern audio visual facilities and plenty of space to teach activity-focused and communication-based English classes. To assist the teachers, ACP has also made a significant investment in new books, games, videos, posters and other resources to be incorporated into ENS lessons.
- The ENS program focuses on teaching communication skills (listening and speaking) to young learners, while the Thai English teachers focus on the productive skills (reading, writing).
- To ensure that the children are taught the same learning objectives each week as their Thai counterparts, ENS teachers follow the Thai English curriculum and syllabus. Furthermore, to encourage cooperation, ENS teachers have a desk in the Thai teachers’ staffroom on their grade level. There are two ENS teachers on each grade level.

Benefits include:
• 48,000 baht a month.
• 3,000 baht monthly increment for re-signing teachers after one year.
• 1 year BUPA insurance cover (including repatriation).
• 40,000 baht 1 year completion bonus.
• Free daily meals in the school canteen.
• Approx 10 weeks a year paid holiday.

- Prospective ENS teachers must be qualified, Native English speakers with a Bachelor Degree and recognized TEFL certification such as a CELTA, Trinity certTESOL, or equivalent. Experience teaching young learners is a definite plus as well.

- If you are interested in the position and would like to know more, please send your cover letter, resume and recent photograph to:
